Questions About Finding the Right Fit.
What martial arts program should my child start in Clovis?
Ages 3 and 4 start in Little Ninjas, a program built specifically for the youngest students. Ages 5 and 6 start in Big Ninjas, which builds on the Little Ninjas foundation. Ages 7 to 12 choose between Juniors MMA (Mixed Martial Arts and Karate) or Juniors BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). Both are excellent first programs at our Clovis dojo.
Can my child train in more than one program?
Yes. Many of our students train both MMA and BJJ to develop a complete skill set across striking and grappling. We typically recommend building a solid foundation in one program first, which usually means several months of consistent training.
MMA or BJJ in Clovis. Which should I pick?
Our MMA program combines Mixed Martial Arts and Karate fundamentals: striking, footwork, conditioning, and self-defense. Our BJJ program teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the leverage-based grappling art that does not depend on size or strength to be effective. The two are complementary and many of our students in Clovis train both. Students who train both programs are welcome. An additional monthly fee applies for dual enrollment. Ask our program director for details.
When should a kid start MMA?
Our Juniors MMA program is for ages 7 to 12. It combines MMA and Karate fundamentals in an age-appropriate format with the ABCs of Conflict Avoidance methodology built in. From age 13, students move into Teen and Adult MMA.
Are programs sorted by age or by skill level?
Programs are grouped primarily by age because physical and cognitive development drives the appropriate training format. Within each program, classes include mixed skill levels and instruction is differentiated so beginners are never expected to perform at the level of advanced students.
How does the one-week trial work?
Our trial is one full week of classes for $59. It includes a free Guido's t-shirt. Pick a start date on the calendar, show up, and train as many classes as you want during your trial week. No long-term contract.
