Who It's For
For Adults Who Want More Than a Gym
Most adults who start martial arts at Guido's aren't here because they want to compete or fight. They are here because they want to be capable. Physically fit. Mentally sharp. Part of something with other people who are pushing themselves.
The gym gets you in shape. Martial arts changes how you think, how you respond under pressure, and how you hold yourself in difficult situations. Those are different things.
Guido's Teen & Adult Martial Arts program is built for people who have been meaning to start and keep putting it off - and for people who tried somewhere else and felt like something was missing.
What Training Does
What Training at Guido's Does for Adults
Real Fitness That Sticks
Every class is a full-body workout. Strength, conditioning, flexibility, and coordination all develop through training - without it feeling like you are just running on a treadmill.
Self-Defense You Can Actually Use
The techniques taught in the adult program are practical. Not choreographed demonstrations - actual defensive skills that build confidence in real-world situations.
Mental Clarity Under Pressure
Martial arts training requires full presence. You can not be distracted on the mat. That discipline of focus starts carrying into work, relationships, and decision-making outside the dojo.
A Community Worth Showing Up For
One of the most common things adult students say: the people made them stay. The training environment at Guido's is serious without being intimidating. Competitive without being hostile. That is not common - and it makes a difference in whether you keep coming back.
The Instructor
Trained By Someone Who Has Done This His Whole Life
Shihan Mike Guido is on the mat for adult classes - not delegating to a junior instructor. When you train at Guido's, you are learning from the person who built the school, holds national certification, and has been teaching adults in Clovis for over a decade.
That matters. You can feel the difference between an instructor who is going through the motions and one who is genuinely invested in your development.

Common Questions
What Adults Usually Ask Before the First Class
I am not in shape. Will I be able to keep up?
There is no fitness requirement to start. You will get in shape by training - that is the point. Every instructor knows how to work with beginners at any fitness level.
I am older and worried about getting hurt.
Controlled training and proper technique reduce injury risk significantly compared to most physical activities. You train at the pace that is right for you, not the fastest person in the room.
I have never done martial arts. Is it too late to start?
Adults who start as complete beginners are the norm at Guido's, not the exception. Many of our adult students started in their 30s, 40s, or later. The only requirement is showing up.
I tried a martial arts class before and it was not for me.
Environment matters more than most people realize. Come in for the 2-week trial and see if Guido's is different. You are not committing to anything - you are just getting on the mat.
Stop Waiting. Two Weeks for $59.
You have been thinking about it long enough. Try a class and see what actually changes.
